Iftar session with besties

Few days before I was down with Vertigo, sempatla jugak iftar with my besties.
It was a last minute plan actually.
Luckily all three of us with our hubbies and babies made it yeay!

We had our iftar at Cozy Corner Ampang Park, as we wanted to do some raya shopping.
If you have not gotten your baju kurung just yet, I would recommend going to Ampang Park, tapi silalah maklum harga agak mencekik di sini. Some of the shops memang tekan harga kaw-kaw.
But we did find some shops which was quite reasonably priced.
We didn't get anything though.

With three babies, we took 15 minutes just to settle down in the restaurant. -__-

Ni baru sorang satu anak, kalau tambah lagi sorang dua tak tau la berapa lama nak ambil masa nak duduk kat restoran hahaha..

Food wise, was not too bad, masak asam dia and sambal udang petai dia quite sedap for me la..
Tapi biasala ada budak kecik, mak-mak budak makan dengan kadar kelajuan formula one..
Bapak budak still boleh relaks..

After iftar, we all tawaf satu Ampang Park, window shopping. But as said, we didn't get anything there. Takde yang berkenan di hati.

Then, of course lepak lagi. Dah alang-alang tu kan, takkan nak balik rumah terus, very the rugi gittew sebab kan jarang jumpa, so we wanted to maximise our time together la kan.

We had our moreh session at Mc Cafe.
Ok, me and encek K agak jakun coz we never ever lepak at Mc Cafe before this. Tak Kay-El sungguh kami. Asek mamak je kan hari-hari sampai nak muntah.
Quite surprised to see all the drinks and desserts served there.
Of course la I have to say goodbye to all the caffeine based drinks kan??? Grrrrrrrr..

We shared some drinks and some very comforting desserts that evening.

Borak punya borak punya borak, around 11pm, we had to say goodbye coz our babies dah nak cranky dah and dah berada dalam kedaan luar kawalan.
Kalau ikut mak-mak, pastilah nak gossip lagi kan.
Sejam dua mana cukup woi.

Takpe-takpe we will see each other again soon. Hehehehehhe..
We have been friends since primary school ok.
Both of them hold some of my deepest secrets hahahahahaha and vice versa.

Eventhough we rarely see each other, the moment we sit together, we will clicked  back immediately.

To Nat and Umi, you know I love you so much kan?

Happy Birthday my dearest son

Today, 30th July, you turned two :')
I guessed I am a bit overwhelmed for the fact that you are no longer my little baby.

Happy birthday my dearest son.

Mummy and daddy loves you very much.
You taught us that it is possible to have unconditional love for you.
You taught us the meaning of patience and happiness that no any amount of money could buy.

Mummy and daddy doakan Arfan Miqaeel membesar menjadi anak yang baik, pandai, kacak dan soleh.
Insya Allah we will try our very best to guide you along the way and we will try to provide the best for you my dear son.

Please don't grow up too fast. Mommy still tak puas nak dukung Miqa, nak gomol Miqa, nak kiss-kiss Miqa, nak suap Miqa makan, nak mandikan Miqa dan bermacam-macam lagi.. Not forgetting the fact that I love it everytime you call for me eventhough you call me 'memey' and not mummy.

You-will-forever-be-my-baby.

Remember that mummy and daddy will always love you.

lawan menjerit

Presenting ...

Arfan Miqaeel's newest hobby skill ...

Screaming on top of his lungs.
Sometimes berlawan-lawan dengan me and encek K.

Encek K said si kecik got high tone voice.
Pitching tinggi kah?

Well son, mommy surely hope and pray that you inherit daddy's voice and not mine; coz daddy for sure can sing!

Unlike mommy lah kan.
Daddy said mommy sounds like Doralin (adik Doraemon) when singing +__+

Well personally mommy thinks daddy is lying.
Coz mommy rasa suara mommy serupa macam Rossa je.
Mommy layan je lagu Terlanjur Cinta tu time karaoke.

Maybe daddy jealous kot?

no coffee and no chocolate

GUESS WHO? :p

Sorry for not updating for about a week.
I was not feeling well :(

I was down with Vertigo again *sigh*
This is the second time I am attacked by this.

Let me tell ya it's no fun at all.
Not being able to get up at all really sucks.
I have to be on bed rest all the time.
Trust me, it S-U-C-K-S!

The last time, the doctors said that caffeine might be the culprit.
I have been away from caffeine all this while trust me.
I can see caramel latte waving at me every time I passed by Starbucks *sigh*

This time around, the culprit might be...................
CHOCOLATE! :(
Haihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

How can you not eat chocolate?
Howwwwwwwwww?

Ok fine I may be overdosed with chocolates ever since I got back from Germany.
Been eating chocolates almost everyday, tak banyak pun, sikit aje..
(mungkin sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit kot?)

Now I cannot eat any chocolates for a while until I get better.. *sigh*

I have to take some medications for a month and then do my follow up with the doctor.
Please, please please pray for me will you?

al-kisah baju raya lagi

My hunt for a blue baju kurung/ baju kebaya for this coming raya is still ongoing  :(
Macam marathon cari baju raya pun ada jugak ni.

Yes, I still cannot find the perfect blue kurung or kebaya for me.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? Kenapaaaaaaaaa?

Encek K cakap biasalah tu, kalau carik memang takde, cuba tak nak, mesti bersepah kaler biru.
Ewahhh senang cakap, mentang-mentang baju melayu awak dah siap!

Then I got to know the collaboration between Aeon and Radzual Radziwill.
Kenapakah mak tak tahu before this? Stresss gittew!

It is called Busana Tradisi by Radzuan Radziwill AEON.
The name Busana Tradisi memang sesuai lah as the collection features baju kurung pesak berpoket, baju kurung Riau, baju Kedah and baju kebaya. Fabrik pulak jenis yang keras sikit dan mostly bercorak songket.

For me it's a simple, practical collection. Tanpa perincian manik-manik, batu or lace which makes it great coz bolehla pakai pergi ofis ke, kenduri ke kan.. Coz kadang-kadang terlalu banyak perincian ni susah jugak, kena tengok majlis seusai ke tidak.

Below are my favourites, ok biru di utamakan ye.
Oh baju melayu untuk lelaki pun ada jugak. Sorry encek K, awak nye baju dah ada.

Ok - fine - harus - pergi - Aeon - time - lunch - break!

working out during Ramadhan

Yesterday, me and encek K didn't get to go to the gym.
We actually still do hit the gym during this Ramadhan month, but not everyday lah kan, we try to alternate the days.

My in-laws were around yesterday as they wanted to have Nasi Beriani Anjer in Bangi for iftar.

Buttttttttttttt we definitely did not feel guilty not going to the gym.
Not only that, we also did not feel guilty whalloping one big  fat plate of nasi beriani by ourselves!

Ape nak jadi ni? -__-

this happened -__-

Actually, we didn't feel so guilty because we were busy chasing Arfan Miqaeel around the track yesterday evening! Kebetulan Restoran Nasi Beriani Anjer ni sebelah track pulak.
So we let him loose on the track! Apa lagi, gembira sungguh si kecik tu semalam.

And sempatla jogging 2,3 laps before iftar hahahaha.
More like we were forced to jog, as in no choice in order to keep up with Arfan Miqaeel!

Walaupun mommy pakai cardigan gold bling-bling and pointed shoes yesterday tapi mommy ikutkan juga.
Sorry pointed shoes. No matter how pretty you are my son still wins.
And sorry feet; for making you guys ran in those pretty little pointed thingy :(

On the other hand, this little boy is like one Energizer Bunny I tell you.
He jogged steadily ok, not walked, HE JOGGED!

Mommy and daddy were having difficulties to keep up yo!

Tapi takpelah tak rasa bersalah belasah nasi beriani after that ngahahahahhaha!

So I guess today we have to him the gym eh?

ok laki mak poyo kat instagram dia

Cerita Makannnn

Fuishh tengok semua blog pun update juadah berbuka.
Tabik spring kat dorang sebab sempat masak lagi. Bukan sejenis lauk je tau tapi berjenis-jenis lauk.

Kami sekeluarga?
Haihhh dah dua hari makan kedai je. Belum sempat nak masak lagi. Bahan nak masak pun takde kat rumah.

First day  puasa makan nasi lauk kat kedai tomyam, and semalam dah layan mamak dah (Kay El sungguh). Tapi sempatla beli ayam golek kat bazaar Ramadhan near our place pastu layan ayam golek dengan roti naan kat mamak. Nak makan nasi memang tak berapa lalu pun. Ada la jugak beli kuih buah melaka kat bazaar, tapi ya hampunnnnn ni kuih buah melaka ke kuih batu bata? Keras gila kulit dia sebab banyak sangat tepung, inti gula melaka pun seciput sangat, so very the kedekut tak baik sungguh berniaga macam ni tau. Memang first and last la kami beli.

Oklah enough about yesterday. Harini sadis sikit. Coz encek K takde untuk berbuka, ada 'iftar' session dekat office, so tinggallah diriku 'ber-iftar' dengan si kecik.  Kira si kecik pun dinner sekali la time buka. So kena lah masak sket harini, nak beli macam tak lalu je.

Jadiknya, plan petang ni masak bubur nasi untuk si kecik (bubur nasi ayam, cauliflower, kentang, carrot and brocolli, he loves it so much btw!) and buat black pepper grill chicken with veggies for myself. Healthy gittew, padahal malasssssss..

Chicken grill tu memang senang je nak buat. Ayam 3,4 ketul marinate dengan black pepper sauce, basil, thyme, white pepper, chilli powder beserta garam dan bawang putih sekali (dah marinate dah malam tadi sebab encek K dah bagitau dia takde, so tetiba rajin pulekkk). Ayam tu nanti masukkan dalam oven for 45mins, 180 degrees, settle. Masa nak masuk oven tu selitkan sekali brocolli, cauliflower and carrot and asparagus. Dapatla satu meal western untuk buka. Kira ok lah tu kan. Nak masak over-over sorang je pun, so yang simple pun jadikla.

So korang masak apa untuk berbuka harini?

Rezeki Ramadhan

Alhamdulillah..

Rezeki Ramadhan..

Congratulations to Shidi and Eit and also to Hadi and Erin on your newborn! Both boys yo!
So Arfan Miqaeel dah ada geng bas sekolah dah. Birthday pun sama bulan. Lahir pun sama macam Miqa dalam bulan puasa jugak.

Kepada Eit and Erin, selamat berpantang dan bersabarlah melihat godaan makanan di bulan puasa (trust me, it's hard, been there, done that)

Not forgetting; welcome to the sleepless night club u olls!

vaccinations

Came across this article from Barely Supermommy's blog and as a new mother I feel like I should share this.

This is purely copy and paste from the blog itself.

Credit to Dr Harlina and Dr Zahirah Filzah on this.
_________________________________________________________________________________

Here is the article regarding vaccination by Dr Zahilah Filzah, a pediatrician of Sg Buloh Hospital as promised. I hope you’ll take time to read this article. She wrote a very precise, nice article about vaccination and I really hope we can convey this message to all mommies out there. If you have any question, please write on the comment section. Dr Zahilah or me myself will try to answer your question. I know some people are very ‘hardcore’ and can be emotional about this vaccination issue. Please don’t bang each other. We are adult and all of us has our own opinion. Don’t judge others who does or doesn’t want to give their child vaccination. We as medical providers, our job is to educate the public based on our knowledge as a doctor and Muslims.
Enjoy. And think!!
***********************
Dear BarelySupermommy readers,
I reckon that some of you may have your own stand on this matter- vaccination. While some of you may disagree, I believe majority of us still believe in vaccination as an effective preventive measure to combat certain infectious diseases. However, the last few months or so, someone may have spoken to you or you may have read on Facebook – that vaccination is not what it seemed. That it is not safe , causes autism, not ‘halal’ and that vaccines are only for profits. You googled. There were many articles on the pros but there were quite a lot on the cons as well. You read the disadvantages of vaccination and then everything seem to weigh on you. You cant help it but started to wonder if they were all true.
I believe that most misconceptions and controversies regarding vaccination stems from the fact that people underestimate the disease and overestimate the side effects. While I agree that Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) do sometimes occur , most are mild (e.g fever and soreness) and disappears rather quickly. I am sure most mothers out there would agree, having had your children vaccinated before. On the contrary, I believe not many of you have seen the diseases at their worst. Measles, for example, may be fever and red spots to most but are you aware that it can spread to the brain and cause death? Pertussis, may begin with the usual fever and cough but as it progress to the second stage of the disease, babies may have prolonged cough, turn blue and stop breathing. Polio was almost eradicated but sadly, on the rise in certain third world countries where the vaccination rate is low. Meningitis, or inflammation of the brain lining caused by Haemophilus Influenza may render a child debilitated and even cause death. Whether you like it or not , the truth is vaccination has tremendously reduce the burden of infectious diseases and has prevented deaths in millions of children all around the world.
Let’s discuss a little bit about the history of vaccines and how it works before discussing the issues because I feel that we would be able to appreciate what we have today if we knew how it all began. Have you ever heard of smallpox? Some of you may have not heard of it because the disease is no longer around. But do you know that the deadly disease was one of the most devastating diseases in the history of mankind and has in fact killed more than 500 millions people for many centuries? 500 millions! But thanks to Edward Jenner, whose work contributed to the development of vaccines, smallpox was eradicated and we don’t have to live to see our loves one dying from the disease.
How does vaccines work? Simply put, imagine a child who develops chicken pox for example, they will rarely contract the disease again . Why? Because the immune system has memory, so that the next time the child is exposed to the virus, the body remembers and destroys the virus even before it causes sickness. And vaccines works the same way, only artificially. Vaccines contains weakened or killed form of the germs, when introduced into the body triggers an immune response without causing the disease. So that the next time the children are exposed to the virus or bacteria, their antibodies would be able to recognize it and combats it.
I remember 3 years ago, a child was admitted to the ward for lung infection. Upon asking the immunisation history, we found out that the child was not vaccinated. In fact, none of his siblings were. I started to counsel the parents but I was quickly dismissed. They felt strongly against vaccination and did not want to discuss any further. Kata mereka ‘ anak anak yang lain semua okay je, tak pernah sakit pun walaupun tak divaksin’. I wanted to tell them about ‘herd immunity’ but then dropped the idea.
What is ‘herd immunity’? In other words, it’s called ‘community’ immunity. It occurs when majority of the population is vaccinated, and the immunity that is achieved by the community would be able to protect those who could not be vaccinated (due to medical reason , HIV, immunosuppresed children). I think that this has not been sufficiently emphasized- that when you get your child vaccinated , you not only protect your child from the infectious diseases but also other kids who are unfortunate enough to have low immunity to be vaccinated. I cant emphasize enough that you are doing a good deed if you get your child vaccinated. But when the rate of vaccination falls, the herd immunity is lost, and I guess you can figure out what comes next.
Having understood the basics, let’s move on to one of the most common misconception about vaccination, in particularly with the MMR vaccines. Does it cause autism? The answer is no, it does not. The scare started in 1998, when a medical journal, The Lancet published a study by Mr. Andrew Wakefield, MD (previously hold the title Dr) that stated that the combined MMR vaccine was linked to autism. However, not long after that, The Lancet itself withdrew the article and Wakefield lost his medical licence. Investigations proved that Wakefield’s research was fraud, unfounded and biased and that there were conflict of interest. His article has led to a drop in vaccination in UK and since then, many studies were done to look into whether there were any association between the MMR and autism, but none were found. Despite that, it’s sad to know that even after 2 decades, some people still believe that it does. Sigh…
The other concern is regarding the use of Thiomersal in the vaccines. Thiomersal is a mercury-based preservative that helps prevent bacterial growth in vaccines and helps maintain the effectiveness of the vaccines. Thiomersal contains ethylmercury, which basically means that it is eliminated from the body quickly and does not reach toxic level in the blood, unlike methymercury. The level of Thiomersal in the vaccines are so small , even fish contains more of it I believe. The amount of Thiomersal in the vaccine have not been shown to cause harm or health risk.
Vaccines are not ‘halal’? Hmmm… I must say that it is unfair to say that those who decided to vaccinate their children do not care of halal and haram. The Malaysian Immunization Programme is decreed permissible by JAKIM. In fact, our prominent Islamic Scholar , Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi stated that the lawfulness of vaccination in Islamic perspective is as clear as sunlight. It is the duty of every Muslim to ward off harm as much as possible, and while we all believe in natural ways to boost immunity e.g breastfeeding , taking honey ( not for those less than 1 year), Habatussauda’, olive oil, that does not mean that we Muslims should deny ourselves of modern medicine that has stood the test of time. I have always believe in complementary medicine.
I am not sure if I have covered all of your concerns but I hope this helps. You may or may not be convinced and that’s okay , as I believe conviction needs to come from one self. If you are doubtful, read further from reliable source, discuss with people who really knows and perform Istikharah. If you strongly object vaccination, my only request is that you do not pose your views on others. I am writing this merely for those who has concern and doubts, yet has not dismissed vaccination.
I strongly feel that we need to have these issues tackled at national level and it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health to allay parental concerns regarding vaccination. The community needs to be educated and myths and misconceptions regarding vaccination should not be allowed to spread, or we would to have to suffer the consequences in the future.
******************
I know the article is a bit long to read especially during fasting month ;) Anyway, personally I think that was a nicely written article, very easy to understand for all mommies out there.. Hope this article answers your questions. Please write on the comment section… Thank you!!

First Day of Ramadhan

Today we turned three :)
Co-incidently it's the first day of Ramadhan.

Three years being married to this wonderful man.

Syukur.

We have been together since 2001 and we got married in 2010.
And like everyone else, we have had our ups and downs, we have had our break ups and make ups, but alhamdulillah we have made it together so far.

Of course on some level we still could not figure each other out lah kan..

Like why I need 100 pairs(or more) of shoes, and why does my shoes have to be scattered everywhere (in the house, in the bedroom, in his car, in my car, at my mom's place, at my in-laws place) or why I cannot avoid walking into a store when I see the SALE sign or why I need to buy so many handbags (encek K is still wondering)

Likewise I do not understand why he needs new rims for his wheels every year or why he needs new exhaust pipe again for his wheels which will actually make so much noise when he is driving or why can't he just switch off the toilet light everytime he comes out from the toilet? (I am also still wondering)

I guess that is what marriage is all about.
Two people in love, accepting each other and adjusting towards each other.

I will forever accept you and adjust myself sayang.
Coz I love you so much you know kan!  Biar sampai syurga  jodoh kita insya Allah. Muaksssssss!

Salam Ramadhan

Esok bemulalah menunaikan ibadah puasa.
Syukur diberi peluang merasa keindahan Ramadhan sekali lagi.

On the other hand, persoalan hari ini between me dan encek K; siapa yang dapat pergi terawikh malam pertama?

Nak pergi dua-dua macam tak dapat sebab no one is around to take care of Arfan Miqaeel. Haihhh.. Takpelah maybe mommy beralah la kasik daddy pergi on the first day, lepas tu kita take turns ok? Last year, both of us memang tak dapat pergi on the first day of terawikh, same case takde orang nak jaga Arfan Miqaeel. Plus masa tu Arfan Miqaeel kecil lagi, so nak bawak Arfan Miqaeel pergi masjid pun memang tak sesuai.

But for this year encek K cakap bawak aje sis kecik pergi masjid.

Hmmm should we bring him?

Bawak memang la boleh bawak, but I think he's too little and for sure si kecik ni tak tau nak duduk diam-diam kat dalam masjid nanti. Kalau menjerit, terpekik, terlolong kat masjid macam mane? Takut menggangu jemaah lain yang nak beribadah :(

Hmmm... kena fikir masak-masak dulu nak bawak ke tak si kecik ni pergi masjid karang.
Selamat ber-terawikh!

Pak Aji kenit

Salam Ramadhan
